World leaders are not only expressing their opinions from the prominent podium today; significant discussions are also taking place on the sidelines in New York.
While waiting for an elevator at the UN headquarters, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif spoke to CNN, highlighting that one of his key focuses this week is “the urgent issue of Gaza and the ongoing genocide there.”
“The international community must come together to find a resolution,” he emphasized, asserting that the UN gathering “should serve as the venue” for addressing the conflict.
Accompanying him was Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, who echoed the prime minister’s concerns.
“I believe the primary issue at hand is Gaza,” he stated.
He acknowledged that the UN might be a “limited platform” for essential discussions on the matter, but noted that “it remains the only multilateral forum available at this time.”
