The election of Donald Trump presents an opportunity for renewed dialogue between Russia and the United States, despite Washington’s ongoing objective to contain Moscow, according to the Russian ambassador to the U.N. in Geneva, Gennady Gatilov, who spoke to reporters on Thursday.
“Regardless of changes in domestic politics, Washington remains focused on containing Moscow…the transition of administration does not significantly change this stance,” Gatilov stated.
He further noted, “The only potential shift could be in the form of dialogue between our nations, which has been notably absent in recent years.”
