Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani

Emir of Qatar has arrived in Turkey to meet President Erdogan and discuss cooperation

Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani arrived in Ankara on Thursday to lead a meeting of the Turkey-Qatar High Strategic Committee alongside President Tayyip Erdogan. Following this meeting, both parties are anticipated to finalize agreements related to investments.

This visit, which emphasizes investment and trade, follows Doha’s announcement over the weekend that it has informed both Hamas and Israel of its decision to pause mediation efforts for a ceasefire in Gaza and the release of hostages until both parties demonstrate genuine willingness to engage.

Turkey, which has been vocal in its criticism of Israel’s actions in Gaza and Lebanon, does not classify Hamas as a terrorist organization, and several of its political figures frequently visit Turkey.

Erdogan and al Thani will first engage in a bilateral discussion before co-chairing the tenth session of the Turkey-Qatar High Strategic Committee. They will subsequently participate in a ceremony to sign multiple agreements.
